Michael S. Puniello, DPT

Dr. Puniello graduated from Quinnipiac College in 1980 with a BS degree in Physical Therapy. He received a Master of Science degree and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.
Dr. Puniello served on the faculty of the MGH Institute of Health Professions in the Advanced Masters Degree program for over 20 years. While there he was Curriculum Coordinator for orthopedic physical therapy and developed the Clinical Residency Program in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He has authored several book chapters and research papers. He has done numerous presentations at professional conferences and continues to teach continuing education courses.
Dr. Puniello is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists, and a member of the North American Spine Society. He served on the board of the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education and is on the board of trustees of the Foundation for Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy.
Michael has extensive experience working with recreational, collegiate, Olympic and professional athletes.

Dr. Puniello utilizes hands-on manual physical therapy, exercise prescription and patient education to address problems of pain and physical dysfunction. When appropriate, modalities will be utilized to augment the treatment approach.
ASSESSMENT & DIAGNOSIS

The key to problem solving is to first identify the problem. Michael will conduct a comprehensive history and physical examination to identify the root cause of your problem as well as any contributing factors. He will analyze the results along with other data such as imaging studies and previous medical reports to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan.

As of February 1, 2023, I have joined the group at Peak Physical Therapy. I will be working at the Cohasset office which is located at 231 Chief Justice Cushing Hwy (3A). The Brass Kettle Building is two miles from my Station Street office, next to Hingham Lumber. My phone number 781-749-5833 will remain active and calls will be forwarded to the Peak office. After 40 years it is a bittersweet feeling to close my Station Street office in Hingham.
It has been an honor to get to know all my patients over the years and a pleasure for me to be in a profession I truly enjoy. I can assure you the same care will be continued, just at a different location.
